John Dobrota

About me

Hello everyone! I’m a graduate from the University of California, Santa Cruz where I studied both Computer Science and Computer Networks. My background is primarily in backend web development and I have experience in app development, both in the Android and iOS space. I’ve managed and also built an iOS app for a client, and a digital closet app in Android Studio.

Along with my client projects, I’ve pursued my interest in backend technologies in my side projects, notably my compact Node.js based social web app and WeeChat, a ASP.NET MVC app written in C#.

A Messaging App where users can select an online user from their contacts to chat with in real time. Now's the time to reach out to your friends to spill some juicy gossip

Go RESTful API

A RESTful API written in Golang using Gorrila Mux package as the web framework. Deployed the application as a service inside an ECS container cluster using the EC2 launch type and frontended the application with an ELB to load balance requests across multiple containers.

My first full stack application that's implemented with: FrontEnd - Angular v.4+ Backend - Node.js MongoDB ExpressJs. Registered users can post messages to their social feed or check out their friends' posts on their profile.

A customizable digital closet app that gives users the ability to take photos with their phone of different articles of clothing and later piece any variations of them together to give a visual idea of potential new outfits.
